The origin of Kyoto cuisine Satsuki There is Kyoto cuisine Satsuki in Uekiyamachi, where the headwaters of the Takase River are located. It is a quiet and calm area. There is a very small signboard standing there, and in the back of the alley there is a building that was used as an inn. About 150 years ago, it was an inn for Shishi at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, and it was also a place for secret talks. The former proprietress, Tomoko Shibata, has a connection with this area and started a new restaurant as a Kyoto restaurant. Originally, on May 13, 1958, we started business under the same name "Satsuki" at our parents' home, Aburanokoji-dori Buddha Koujishita. The name of the shop comes from the birthday month of the landlady. Before opening, I asked my grandmother if this name was really good, and even though it was popular to give katakana high-collar names at that time, the name "Satsuki" was easy to remember and good. With the support of many people, Satsuki is today. Time has passed and the times have changed significantly, but the second-floor tatami room overlooking the Kamo River, a small room that may have been used for secret talks, a Japanese-style counter on the first floor, and a Western-style counter with a retro atmosphere convey the situation at that time. increase. From May to the end of September, you can enjoy the seasonal scenery of Kyoto cuisine indoors from October to the end of April while watching the dusk of the Kamo River on the Noryo Yuka. Please come and enjoy the emotional moments throughout the year. Satsuki Co., Ltd. Sachiko Shibata
