The hotel's history dates back to the mid-19th century, when it was originally a lodging house for Armenian traders who were drawn to the area due to its historical enclave for the local Malay-Muslim community and proximity to Penang Port. The Chinese migrant community later occupied the area, building prosperous businesses on the copper and brass industry. Currently, Armenian Street is known as "phak thang-ah kei" or "Coppersmith Street" in its Hokkien patois. The hotel is a hub of charm, culture, and famous street art, offering quaint shops, activities, events, and cultural offerings that attract both locals and visitors alike.
