Eleven Jakarta, a speakeasy bar, has become a popular leisure retreat for hardworking executives and the elite of Jakarta's capital city. The concept of a speakeasy bar originated during the US Prohibition era, where the sale of alcoholic beverages was illegal. These establishments, known as "speakeasy bars," were hidden in hidden areas, such as hotel basements, and only pre-approved regulars could enter. A century later, retro-style bars and saloons that adopt the concept of speakeasy bars are still standing, including Jakarta's own Eleven Jakarta.
