Born in Italy, Matteo’s journey in mixology has taken him from Australia to Singapore, Mumbai, and now Bangkok, where he’s found his true calling. With his sociable personality and fearless experimentation with flavors, he brings an unmatched passion to every cocktail he creates. Behind the bar stands Arnon Hoontrakul, better known as KK, a renowned restaurateur and bar owner with establishments spanning Thailand and France. His vision for Opium Bar was born from the rich history of the POTONG building, a place that once served as an opium den during its heyday. Inspired by this legacy, KK conceptualized Opium Bar with the idea of Fluid Surreality, creating an experience that transports guests to a time and place where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur.
