Restaurant POTONG

POTONG, or "simple," is the name of Chef Pam's family business, which has been producing Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine since 1910. The restaurant was built to last with techniques ahead of its time and a distinctive design by SINO-Portuguese. For over 100 years, Chef Pam's family lived in this space while producing Chinese medicine products under the name "保坤益母藥" (bǎo kūn yì mǔ yào). To construct POTONG's restaurant, a team of specialists including engineers, interior designers, artists, craftsmen, and kitchen specialists worked together to maintain the originality of the building while pursuing today's vision. Over 70 people were present in the 500 sqm space during the development, with one of the extraordinary tasks being the moving of kitchen hardware through a small shaft before building a lift in the middle. The development project took over two years to finish, but it is an ideal piece of excellence, taking the idea of "juxtaposition" and placing it in the center of Chinatown. POTONG takes on one of the greatest architecture and design concepts, incorporating "JUXTAPOSITION" or placing two complete elements close together or side by side.
